Review & FeedbackReview Player

Review Player

The Review Player is the central workspace for media evaluation in Cuevue. It supports both audio and video review with frame-accurate timecode and transcript interaction.

Interface Overview

The player is divided into several interactive zones:

  • Playback Timeline: Scrubbable timeline controls for precise navigation.
  • Transcript View: The primary interaction area. Words are highlighted in real-time as they play.
  • Sidebar: A collapsible panel on the right for managing Comments and Approvals.
  • Video Preview Hover (video only): Hover the timeline to see frame thumbnails while scrubbing.

Playback Controls

Beyond basic Play/Pause, the Review Player offers professional-grade navigation:

Speed Control

Adjust playback speed to match your workflow:

  • 0.25x – 2.0x: Use the stepped speed control in the player.
  • Desktop slider menu: Fine-grained preset steps with reset-to-1x.
  • Mobile quick cycle: Tap speed to rotate common values (1x, 1.25x, 1.5x, 2x).

Seeking & Navigation

  • Frame-Accurate Seeking: Use the timeline or transcript to jump to exact timestamps.
  • Keyboard skip: and move the playhead by 5 seconds on desktop.
  • Mobile skip buttons: Jump backward/forward 10 seconds.
  • Timeline Scrubbing: Drag anywhere on the timeline to scrub through the media.

Volume

  • Volume Slider: Adjust output level.
  • Mute Toggle: Quick mute/unmute without losing your volume setting.
  • Persistent Settings: Volume preferences are saved across sessions.

Keyboard Shortcuts

Power users can navigate the player entirely via the keyboard:

KeyAction
SpaceToggle Play/Pause
/ Seek backward/forward 5 seconds
CJump to comment input at current timestamp
RResolve/unresolve active comment
[ / ]Jump to previous/next comment
CMD+F / Ctrl+FOpen Transcript Search
CMD+K / Ctrl+KToggle search panel
CMD+E / Ctrl+EToggle transcript edit mode

Interactive Transcript

The transcript is not just for reading—it is an active navigation tool.

  • Click to Seek: Click any word to jump the player to that exact time.
  • Hover Previews: Hovering over a word shows the exact timestamp for that moment in the media.
  • Real-Time Highlighting: The current word is highlighted as the audio plays, making it easy to follow along.
  • Transcription Job Status: If your media is still being processed, you will see a real-time progress bar in place of the transcript.

Creating Comments from the Player

There are multiple ways to leave feedback:

From the Transcript

  1. Select Text: Highlight a word, sentence, or paragraph.
  2. Comment Appears: The comment dialog opens automatically with the time range pre-filled.
  3. Type & Submit: Add your feedback and click Send.

From the Timeline

  1. Double-click timeline: Jump to a timestamp and open comment entry at that moment.
  2. Use C shortcut or sidebar input: Add a point comment at the current playhead.
  3. For range feedback: Select text in the transcript to create start/end timestamp comments.

Comment Lane

The Comment Lane sits below the timeline and visually displays all comments:

  • Point comments appear as small colored dots at their timestamp, using the author’s color.
  • Range comments appear as horizontal bars spanning from start to end time. Bars are arranged in lanes to avoid overlap.
  • Hover any comment in the lane to see a tooltip with the author’s name, timing, and comment text.
  • Drag to adjust timing: Grab the edges of a range bar to resize it, or drag the whole bar to reposition. Hold Cmd/Ctrl for precision mode (0.2x speed). Changes save automatically when you release.

Review Markers

In addition to comments, you can place Review Markers on the timeline for ad insertion points or structural notes:

  • Point markers mark a single moment in time.
  • Section markers span a time range.
  • Markers appear as colored ticks on the timeline and can be labeled.
  • When exporting to Megaphone, markers can automatically generate ad insertion points (pre-roll, mid-roll, post-roll).

Comment Dots & Annotations

  • Comment markers also appear as pins on the timeline.
  • Click a marker to jump to that comment and review the referenced moment.
  • For video comments with annotations, a visual overlay appears at the associated timestamp.

Customizing the View

  • Sidebar Resizing: Drag the left edge of the sidebar to adjust its width. The player will automatically reflow to fit the remaining space.
  • Collapsing: Use the toggle in the header to hide the sidebar and focus entirely on the transcript and playback.
  • Full Width Mode: Collapse the sidebar to maximize transcript space for focused reading.

Multi-Export

Export your finished audio or video to multiple destinations at once from the version action menu:

  1. Select destinations: Toggle the services you want to export to — Megaphone, YouTube, Dropbox, and/or Google Drive.
  2. Configure: Each destination shows its own settings panel (ad markers for Megaphone, metadata for YouTube, folder for Dropbox/Drive).
  3. Export: All selected exports run in parallel. You can close the dialog — exports continue in the background.

Failed exports show a Retry button and error details. Successful exports display links to the published content (e.g., YouTube URL, Megaphone CMS page).

[!NOTE] Each destination requires its integration to be connected in Space or Account Settings. Unavailable destinations are shown but disabled with a plan upgrade prompt.

Mobile Experience

CueVue’s Review Player is fully optimized for mobile devices, allowing reviewers to provide feedback on the go.

Mobile-Optimized Layout

  • Stacked View: On smaller screens, the transcript and comments stack vertically for easier reading.
  • Bottom Navigation: Key controls are positioned at the bottom for thumb-friendly access.
  • Safe Areas: The interface respects device safe areas (notches, home indicators).

Touch Gestures

  • Tap to Seek: Tap any word in the transcript to jump to that moment.
  • Timeline tap: Tap the timeline to move the playhead.
  • Double-Tap Paragraph: Quickly create a comment for an entire paragraph.
  • Selection toolbar: After selecting transcript text, use quick actions to comment/play/clear.

Mobile Selection Toolbar

When you select text on mobile:

  1. A floating toolbar appears with comment and playback options.
  2. Tap the comment icon to create feedback for the selection.
  3. The toolbar follows your selection for easy access.

First-Time Onboarding

New mobile reviewers see a brief tutorial explaining:

  • How to leave comments.
  • How to navigate the transcript.
  • How to submit their review.

[!TIP] Add CueVue to your home screen for a native app-like experience. On iOS, tap Share → “Add to Home Screen”. On Android, tap the menu → “Add to Home Screen”.

[!NOTE] Audio review flow is unchanged. Video enhancements are isolated to video playback and timeline rendering.
