Exporting Feedback

Once a review cycle is complete, you may need to move your feedback into external tools like DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations), NLEs (Non-Linear Editors), or project management systems. Cuevue supports a wide range of professional export formats to bridge this gap.

Using the Export Menu

Click the Export button in the Review Player header to open the export menu. Exports are organized into collapsible sections:

Media

  • Download Audio / Download Video — Download the original media file for the current version.

Transcript

Available when the version has a transcript:

  • SubRip (.srt) — Standard subtitle format for video editors and media players.
  • WebVTT (.vtt) — Web-native caption format for HTML5 video.
  • Plain Text (.txt) — Simple timestamped transcript for reference.

Comments

Exports comments, replies, and review markers in various formats:

Basic exports:

  • Formatted Report (.txt) — Human-readable comment summary with timestamps and context.
  • SoundFlow Markers (JSON) — Marker schema for importing into Pro Tools via SoundFlow. Includes session timecode and frame rate settings.
  • Comments (JSON) — Developer-friendly payload for integrations or custom scripts.
  • Comments (CSV) — Structured rows for Excel or Google Sheets with timestamps, authors, and status fields.

Review Export (unified comments + markers):

  • Review Export (TSV / CSV / JSON) — Comprehensive export combining comments, replies, and review markers into a single file. Includes timecodes, thread relationships, marker metadata, and status information.
  • Pro Tools Review Export (TSV / CSV / JSON) — Lane-based layout optimized for Pro Tools workflows. Organizes items into lanes: Comments (lane 1), Replies (lane 2), Point Markers (lane 3), Range Markers (lane 4), and Misc (lane 5). Each row includes timecode, marker name (e.g., C001, C001-R1), and event type.

NLE Markers

Available when comments or markers have timestamps. Exports timeline markers for professional editing software:

  • Premiere Pro (.csv) — Tab-separated marker format with In/Out timecodes for Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • DaVinci Resolve (.edl) — Edit Decision List format compatible with DaVinci Resolve.
  • Final Cut Pro (.fcpxml) — Final Cut Pro XML format with chapter markers.

Integrations

Export directly to connected services:

  • Export to Multiple — Push to multiple destinations simultaneously (Megaphone, YouTube, Dropbox, Google Drive) from a single dialog.
  • Share via Email — Send the version to collaborators via email.
  • YouTube — Upload directly to your connected YouTube channel (Studio plan).
  • Megaphone — Publish to Megaphone for podcast distribution with ad markers (Studio plan).
  • Dropbox — Export media to your connected Dropbox account (Pro plan).
  • Google Drive — Export media to your connected Google Drive (Pro plan).
  • Descript — Export audio/video to Descript for editing (Studio plan).

Export Options

Review Export and Pro Tools Review Export support several toggles to customize what is included:

  • Include Resolved: Include comments that have been marked as resolved (off by default).
  • Include Replies: Include threaded replies beneath their parent comments (on by default).
  • Include Markers: Include review markers alongside comments (on by default).
  • Include Untimed: Include comments that don’t have a timestamp (on by default).
  • Frame Rate (fps): Set the frame rate for timecode formatting in exports (default varies by format).

What Information is Exported?

Every export includes metadata for each comment and marker:

  • Timestamp: The exact start time (and end time for range comments and section markers).
  • Commenter: The display name of the person who provided the feedback.
  • Comment Content: The full text of the feedback, including replies when enabled.
  • Status: Whether the comment is “Open” or “Resolved.”
  • Marker Data: Review markers include type (point/section), color, and label.
  • Thread Context: Reply exports include thread path and parent reference for maintaining conversation structure.
  • Project Context: The Space, Project, and Version names are included in the header of exported files.

Workflow Example: Audio Polish

  1. Export as Text: The lead editor exports all “Needs Changes” comments.
  2. Reference in DAW: They open the text file alongside their DAW (like Ableton or Pro Tools).
  3. Execute Fixes: Using the timestamps, they jump to each point, address the note, and then mark the comment as Resolved back in Cuevue once the new version is uploaded.

Workflow Example: Pro Tools Session

  1. Export for Pro Tools: Use Pro Tools Review Export (TSV) to get a lane-based spreadsheet.
  2. Import via SoundFlow: Use SoundFlow to import markers as Memory Locations in your Pro Tools session.
  3. Navigate by Lane: Comments, replies, and markers are separated into lanes so you can focus on one type at a time.

Workflow Example: Video Post-Production

  1. Export NLE Markers: Choose Premiere Pro (.csv), DaVinci Resolve (.edl), or Final Cut Pro (.fcpxml) depending on your NLE.
  2. Import Markers: Import the file into your NLE timeline as markers.
  3. Address Feedback: Navigate between markers to find and fix each noted issue.

[!NOTE] Use the export toggles to include resolved comments or threaded replies depending on how much context you need downstream.
