Docs & Notes
Docs (also referred to as Notes) are Cuevue’s built-in rich text editor for project documentation, creative briefs, and meeting notes. Docs live alongside your production media, so context is always one click away.
Using the Block Editor
Cuevue features a modern, block-based editor. To start a new block, type / to open the command menu:
- Typography: H1-H3 headers, bulleted lists, and numbered lists.
- Task Management: Checklists for lightweight to-dos.
- Technical: Syntax-highlighted code blocks and file attachments.
- Media: Drag and drop images directly into the document.
Collaboration & Context
Docs are fully integrated into the Cuevue ecosystem:
- Real-Time Collaboration: Multiple team members can edit the same document simultaneously. You will see active cursors and avatars of everyone currently in the doc.
- Internal Linking: Use
[[plus a search term to link to any Project, Space, or other Doc. - Mentions: Use
@nameto mention team members. This will notify them and provide a link to the specific line in the document.
Document Customization
Make your docs visually distinct and easy to identify:
- Icons: Set an emoji or Lucide icon for each doc from the icon picker in the doc header.
- Cover Images: Add a cover image or color band to the top of any doc for visual context.
- Full Width: Toggle full-width mode for docs that need more horizontal space.
Document Scoping
Not all notes belong to the same level. Cuevue allows you to scope your documentation:
Space Docs
General documentation that applies to the entire organization, such as “Brand Guidelines” or “Standard Operating Procedures.” These are found in the root Notes tab of your Space.
Project Docs
Notes that are specific to a single deliverable. These are accessible from the Project Dashboard and are often used for “Creative Briefs” or “Interview Outlines.”
Task Docs
Highly granular notes attached to individual tasks, useful for technical handoff instructions or specific research notes for a segment.
Version Docs
Notes tied to a specific version of a media file, useful for revision notes or per-version feedback summaries.
Folder Organization
Organize your docs into folders for better structure:
- Create Folders: Use the New Folder button in the Notes sidebar to group related documents.
- Move Docs: Drag docs between folders or use the Move to Folder action in the doc menu.
- Nested Navigation: The Notes sidebar groups docs by project/episode and folder for quick access.
Privacy Controls
Control who can see your notes:
- Private Docs: Toggle a doc to Private to make it visible only to you. Private docs are hidden from other Space members.
- Shared Docs: By default, docs are visible to all Space members with access to the parent scope (Space, Project, or Task).
[!TIP] You can export any Cuevue Doc as a clean markdown file for use in other systems or for archiving. Look for the Export option in the document menu.
